"Environmental Groups Challenge Glyphosate Approval Renewal Over Data Concerns - Weedtechnics

Six environmental groups are challenging the European Commission’s decision to renew glyphosate’s approval for 10 years, arguing that the assessment relied on incomplete evidence from the industry. They claim deficiencies in contributions from the European Chemicals Agency (Echa) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The Commission renewed glyphosate’s approval after member states failed to reach a majority agreement. The groups accuse authorities of rejecting data from independent scientific literature and relying solely on industry-provided data. They demand reconsideration and threaten to escalate the matter to the Court of Justice of the European Union if the response is unsatisfactory.
