Thermal Shock 98° C Is The Magic Number
The thermal shock principle of SatusteamTM harnesses a unique treatment fluid comprised of coalesced boiling water droplets and saturated steam, generated within a continuous flow hot water heat exchanger. This specialized fluid is precision-delivered at a temperature range of 98°C to 100°C (208°F to 212°F) directly to targeted vegetation.
Upon contact, an exceptionally rapid thermal shock, occurring within 1/10th of a second, causes immediate cellular rupture in soft-leaved plants, resulting in their effective elimination. This innovative approach offers swift, efficient weed control and plant sterilization, distinguishing itself from traditional pressure vessel-based systems, while maintaining minimal environmental impact.

Satusteam™ destroys all soft-leaved and stemmed vegetation above ground and gets some penetration into the meristematic growth points, eliminating the weed or retarding its regrowth.
Satusteam™ uses pressurized water heated to 120°C, delivered gently above 98°C and 40-60psi, causing weed cells to burst on contact. This destroys their protective cuticle, leading to rapid dehydration and decomposition in the soil. Additionally, Satusteam™ effectively controls herbicide-resistant weeds, such as flickweed and liverwort, breaking the resistance cycle.
Moreover, Satusteam™ may eliminate the need for pre-emergent herbicides. It either neutralizes weed seeds upon contact or facilitates germination with heat and water. When these seeds sprout, Satusteam™ easily eradicates the resulting seedlings.

Every Satusteam™ treatment leaves behind a layer of freshly cooked vegetative matter that used to be those pesky weeds you wanted to get rid of. This layer of cooked vegetation becomes your own mulch that increases microbial activity in your soil.
